The SIFA Plan – Accelerating the Achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The SIFAPlan and the SDGs
Since 2015, when the U.N. Member States agreed on Agenda 2030 and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there have been concerns that we are lagging behind in their implementation. These concerns have mounted since the onset of the COVID pandemic in early 2020.
The SIFA Plan consists of three aspects that work together to accelerate the achievement of all of the SDGs. They are:
- The creation of a sustainable supplementary global Economy exclusively for the purchase of sustainable goods and services;
- Inclusive decision making by people worldwide to determine annually which goods and services may be offered through the supplementary economy;
- A supplementary income for every woman, man and child worldwide to be spent exclusively in the sustainable, supplementary global economy.
Here are some ways in which the elements of the SIFAplan can support the achievement of all of the SDGs and contribute to building a foundation for sustainable development.
SDG 1: End poverty in all its forms: a strong foundation for all of the SDGs.
SDG 2. End hunger, increase food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
SDG 3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all.
SDG 5. Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
SDG 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
SDG 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
SDG 10. Reduce inequality within and among countries.
SDG 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
SDG 12. Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
SDG 13. Effective Climate Action.
Conclusion:The SIFAplan serves as a tool for the implementation of all of the SDGs.
