SDG 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
The SIFA economy promotes inclusive, sustainable economic growth that aims at meeting basic physical needs first, and then focuses on immaterial growth–personal, psychological, cultural, spiritual development—that is rooted in human creativity and can grow ad infinitum.
After focussing on their most immediate physical needs for the first years of the Plan, even the most impoverished will then gradually be able to shift to personal development and income generation. Many who initially participated only as consumers will later be able to become producers within the sustainable economy. The proportion of depletable materials used will decrease while that of renewable goods will increase, as the sustainable economy empowers individuals to meet their physical needs more and more sustainably and focuses their interests on personal, educational, cultural and spiritual development. In this way, the sustainable global economy will grow each year and so will the numbers of decent, productive jobs that promote individual fulfilment.
